DFI Day 2

These are some of my learnings from the Digital Fluency Intensive today. Friday 7 March.

  • Organising my emails.
  • Google Keep
  • Practiced Google Hangout.  Very successful.
  • Toby
  • Organising my calendar better.
  • Linking my google stuff to my phone.
  • Installed LOOM on my computer and learnt how to record and present my screen with speech to a Hangout group.  (Thanks Herman for your help)
A thought:  At our Manaiakalani PLG yesterday we discussed the importance of our Cluster having a "roadmap."  A sample framework for creating a Roadmap has been sent out to Principals but much work by each school is needed to complete it so as to reflect the particular school's unique character.
The LEARN, CREATE, SHARE pedagogy is a great place to start.

The above "LEARN" set of slides prepared by Dorothy is an excellent place to start the thinking.

How Herman helped me learn to embed a recording.

My Reflections on todays Learning at the Digital Learning Intensive.  (i.e. my first try at embedding a recording)

  2. Hi David, it was wonderful to meet you today. The road can seem daunting without a map and one allowing for our individual school's difference is important. Thank you for sharing your learning around loom, I look forward to using and seeing how it can be trimmed. I am glad you enjoyed having time to play with Google Keep and Taming you Tabs. Try to keep finding time to play. Sorry David I forgot to acknowledge who the post was from (hence the delete) Tanya Mundy @ https://tchingprofessional.blogspot.com/

  3. Evening David,

Was great working with you today. Our discussion was very cool and made me realise how powerful technology can be for creating focus and clarity about learning and ideas. You have such a great learning mindset and natural curiosity when learning. Your enthusiasm is an inspiration.

Would be cool to see how Hangouts can be used more to ensure ALL principals are able to attend meetings. Could the discussion be recorded like our one today? Looking forward to seeing how you use what we learn about in your role.

Have a great weekend - hope the get together this afternoon was a good chance to remember and reminisce.

    Kind regards,
    Herman

    1. Thank you for those encouraging comments Herman. Must admit you guys (Amie and yourself are awesome. Mind you your reputations preceded you so I am not surprised. It is great that you are both now in positions where you can have a wide influence on our Tairawhiti teachers.
We had a wonderful time with Rod Hibbert's friends and family. Great catch-ups with teachers we worked with at Gis Int from the late 1970's to late eighties including George Walford who we always loved working with.

  4. Kia ora David,
Great to see the powerful rewindable learning using loom. I really like the way you have engaged with the Learn and thinking about the road map for schools. You're very welcome re the figs and peaches.
